Bristol Named Best Place to Live in the UK – Here’s Why…

We like to think we’re ahead of the curve when it comes to future-gazing trends – it’s all part of the day job. And when we opened our second Southwest office in Bristol – we knew we were in the right place. So, when the Sunday Times published its revered Best Places to Live list this weekend, it came as no surprise to see Bristol top the list.

Arguably the capital of the southwest, Sunday Times’ Home Editor, Helen Davies, perfectly encapsulates the qualities that make the city what it is:

“…the city is a worthy winner thanks to its ideal combination of extraordinary culture, impressive schools, buzzing culinary scene, exciting redevelopment and community spirit. We sum the city up as cool, classy and supremely creative.”

Bristol dwellers are taking the accolade in their stride. It is, after all, not the first time the city has received such recognition; in fact, we are riding on the crest of a wave, having been recently named one of the top 10 cities in the world to visit in 2017 by the Rough Guide. And this came hot on the heels of being named the UK’s most inspiring city at the end of last year. Compiled by Travel Bird, the ranking was based on Bristol’s cultural creativity and commitment to innovation.

What is it about Bristol? For me, it’s not just that it is a bourgeoning innovation and tech hub, and it’s not just about the city’s creative capital – it’s about the blend. The city has evolved into a melting pot of talent and innovation, inspiring collaboration in a way others do not. Canopy & Stars’ treehouse project, announced a couple of weeks ago, is a great example. In a world-first, the Bristol travel company’s Crane 29 project, will see one of Bristol’s landmark cranes on the Harbourside turned into a fully-functional holiday home ‘treehouse’. A smart brand-building move, with a positive sustainability message built-in (all profits will go to Friends of the Earth)

While Bristol residents enjoy the buzz that comes with this latest accolade, we look forward to being part of what is a great regional success story, helping Bristol businesses and brands grow with creative multi-platform storytelling.
